Illegal to Win by Too Much

I wanted to comment about this story from Millenial Star:

The football committee of the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference, which governs high school sports, is adopting a “score management” policy that will suspend coaches whose teams win by more than 50 points.

Does football committee of the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference believe that the Chinese or Indians will stop producing at cutthroat prices because “they have hurt our economy enough”?

The thinking that demonstrates that normal, healthy people somehow need or can even have some Big Brother figure to take care of them, shelter them from difficulty, pain, or mistakes, is new and not encouraging. That this should happen in America is worthy of an Onion posting.

I love Seth’s story. What if everyone did “take it easy” on the kid? How good would he get. I think even Seth knows, in 10 years, that kid is coming back to kick his !!!. Not because he was coddled, but precisely because he wasn’t.

To bring this back to the Gospel, isn’t this what the whole pre-existence drama is about? Whether we have “protection” and “guarantees” or whether we “learn through [often hard] experience”? Interesting to see the battle play out on earth . . .
